Music, from what I seen, is a buffet. Everyone chooses what they like, just because someone doesnt like the same food you do, doesn’t mean you should hate on their opinon.
Now from what I hear tho, is a lot of artists sounding the same. Once someone comes out that’s truly “original” a few months later it seems like everyone jumps on that band wagon, thusly polluting that original persons originality, in turn creating people (fans) like me, haters.
Now I don’t hate on people makin money, I hate on HOW they make money, basically trying to turn original work and make it there’s.
Now being influenced is totally different…
People are influenced all the time and from that create something new. The tree of hip hop has so many branches of influence, causing other limbs and twigs and nests… But no branch should look the same… That’s where I’m going with this, you makin money cool, but making money from someone else’s music not cool.
Why then should I follow other artists, who have no influence on my style or career, when I have been told my sound is original already. Only reason I’m not being “heard” is because of connections (not what ya know its who ya know) which is a whole other blog. I’m thankful for every play, email and fan I get! I’m gonna continue being me in the process and not turn into an artist I’m suppose to be “watching”. Because when the world finally hears me…. Competition who…?
